Why Full Membership Matters

You might ask,

  • “Doesn’t everyone who attends regularly become a member automatically?”
  • “Does it really matter if I’m a member or not?”
  • “Why do I have to take a class to even become a member?”

People often ask these questions about our membership process, wondering why there is a need for an extra step.

Membership in a church is not like membership in a social club or other organization. Most organization members are consumers — the organization exists to serve them. The church of Christ is a completely different community — membership means ministry and service, going from being a consumer to becoming a provider of God’s love and care to others. At The Seed, we take seriously that we are a church not for ourselves, but for others.

Why become a full member?

Becoming a full member will not only enable you to serve in a full capacity in the church but also help you to deeply engage in our core mission. Your Church life becomes so much enjoyable as you begin to use your gifts and talents for a cause that is bigger than you.

Before you consider full membership

Since our church is made up of house churches, active attendance in a house church is a must to start the membe process.
If you are not part of a house church, please sign up here.

Full Membership Process

As you think about joining our church as a “full member“, you can take the following steps.

01 | New Family Class (NFC)

New Family Class helps you to make an informed decision by clearly presenting you our church’s vision and strategy for mission.

It is run through three consecutive Sundays, offered on a monthly basis (except certain months).

Once you finish NFC, you become a registered member and you can begin to volunteer in church ministries, but is limited in capacity (certain team requires full membership) and cannot serve in leadership roles.

You can sign up here.

02| Gospel Presentation Session (GPS)

During GPS, the gospel is clearly presented so that participants can understand how to become a Christian and receive eternal life.

For more information about GPS, click here.

03 | Baptism

Baptism symbolizes your spiritual union with Christ, which signifies inclusion in the body of Christ, which is the Church.

Once you go through all of these steps, you will become a baptized registered member, which is the full membership in The Seed, and you will be able to serve in leadership roles and participate in congregation meeting.
