348. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality
10 Days EMP (Early Morning Prayer) registration is starting next Sunday. Every year, we spend 10 days praying with 2 other partners, going over a book of choice to grow together and start the year with God’s help. This year’s book is “Emotionally Healthy Spirituality”, written by Peter Scazzero. He led a thriving church, but he realized how emotionally immature he was, despite his reputation and ministry experience. Though painful, he humbly started the hard work of facing his real…

347. Leave the Greeters Alone
I talked about this during the “Thought of The Week” but I have a feeling that some missed it, so I am also writing about it. One of the biggest turnoffs for church visitors is people crowding together at the entrance. It communicates a cliquey, inside-oriented community to them, even though it may not be. I know some people want to chat with the greeting team because they know them well. But that can happen after the service. Imagine you…

346. Purpose of Team Ministry
It is good to see our team ministry growing. But I’m not sure if everyone is aware of the purpose of team ministry. Team ministry’s ultimate purpose is to assist House Church ministry. It is because house church is the main body of evangelism and mission in our church. Most teams provide opportunities to serve in Sunday operation, which ensures Sunday service happens smoothly, where each house church’s VIPs make their first visit. When we fail to make the connection…

345. Rental Car
As many of you already know, our Tesla got rear-ended a month ago. Thankfully, insurance covers the entire car rental cost. But what surprised us was that the car rental company gave us was an Audi. I had never imagined myself driving an Audi, partly because I was never a car guy. But another reason is, it always felt like a “really” luxurious car. The only rich person I knew in Korea during my childhood drove an Audi. Maybe that…

344. Waiting is Faith
My mom was hit with a stroke last year on the day of Halloween. So this year’s Halloween reminded me of how I felt when that first happened, and how we’ve progressed in supporting her recovery. While looking back, I felt two main emotions: Thankfulness and Disappointment. I felt deeply thankful that my mom has come a long way. She is progressing very well. She had some minor procedures here and there, but she has been stable. Not only that,…

343. Experience the Otherness of God
The greatest event in human history is the incarnation of Jesus – God became human. Unlike what other religions teach, Christianity teaches that God reached out to man when we weren’t even searching for him and even acknowledged him. So when we come to worship “that” God on Sunday, we ought to enjoy the “intimacy” that we have with Him, through Jesus Christ. We can call him our friend, comforter, and helper. We can also enjoy his loving presence. This…
Confirmation Testimony – Estelle Kim
Hello, I’m Estelle, and as someone raised in a family where religion was held to a high degree, the beliefs and values of Christianity were drilled into me ever since I could remember. One of the first things I learned from this religion is the foundational truth that “God is good.” It might sound silly, but as a clueless child, I found it fairly easy to accept this concept because God created colours, and for as long as I could…
