253. Life Without Problem?

In June, when the government ended the “Stay-at-home” order, I secretly expected to face the year 2022 with much less hint of COVID. It saddens me that it won’t happen, as the new variant Omicron is surging. However, at the same time, I feel grateful that we are learning one crucial truth that betrays our secret expectation: Life without a problem is an illusion. Certainly, when we go to heaven, all problems will cease to exist. But as long as…

252. Added Safety

On Thursday, Ontario healthy officials reported the highest daily COVID-19 case count since the pandemic started, with more than 5700 new infections in a day. These are mainly the Omicron variant cases, and many people are very nervous about the recent surge. However, according to a medical study in South Africa, those infected with Omicron were 80% less likely to end up in the hospital than those with the Delta variant and generally reported less severity compared to other variants.…

Baptism Testimony — Miru Kim

Miru’s Testimony From the beginning of my time in a church, I initially thought of God like how many others did; nothing more than a myth and a fairy tale that a few people were crazed over for apparently no reason. Back in those days, I wasn’t able to understand the reason why the adults around me were so devoted to the man they called their Father, so I decided to avoid sermons and singing by hiding away from everyone…

251. Christmas Relief

As you heard from the announcement, we are creating a “Outreach search committee” to select a charitable organization to partner with to give more to our local community. To give you the context, KSC and ESC have agreed to donate all of Christmas offering every year to a charity that serves our local community, starting from this year. The primary groups we have in mind are low-income families, homeless people, refugees and such. And KSC has delegated the role of…

James

James: Practical Faith that isn’t Shallow Christian faith is often considered a set of ideas to be believed and heard on Sunday that may not be relevant in our daily struggles and issues. But faith we see in the Bible is immensely practical in every faucet of our lives. Some think if we make faith practical, we lose its theological depth. But through studying the book of James, we will learn that faith God is pleased with is deeply practical,…

250. Requiring Vaccination Proof

Starting from the Christmas Joint service (12/25), both KSC and ESC require all service participants to provide vaccination proof. It’s been a few months since the government first announced that churches could gather without limit if vaccination proof is checked. We didn’t immediately change how we gather to accommodate those who are not fully vaccinated. But given the rising number of cases and concern over the variant, and to make our service environment safer, our church has decided to implement…

249. Preaching Rotation

Pastor Anthony will preach more often starting from next year. He has shown significant improvement through the TFE (Seminary practicum), especially in preaching. He preached a few times this year as he was getting used to his role as a youth pastor, and the feedback has been very positive. He is also the main speaker for our youth retreat this year. He will preach between 10-12 times on Sundays. He will do a short series here and there to have…
