219. Mission Impossible Made Possible

There is one missionary who changed the course of Korea. Today about one-third of South Korea’s 51 million people are Christian. Not only that, Protestants have increased faster than in any other country, doubling every decade. By 1994, there were over 35,000 churches and 50,000 pastors, making the South Korean churches one of the most vital and dynamic in the world. It also became the country that sent out the second most number of missionaries. However, Korea has not always…

Romans

Have you tried to live right? I mean, we all do. We want to be a good friend, spouse, family member, church member, and a citizen. We believe that as long as we do our best to live right, things will be right. But we often find things that are “not right”.In fact, in our pursuit of “living right”, we end up trying to “prove ourselves right”.As we all know, when we are right, someone is wrong. And no one wants to be wrong.Relationships…

218. Speculator vs Investor

“Stocks” became a prominent theme during the Pandemic. But many people have a misunderstanding about stocks. Many people think investing in stocks is “trading” stocks (continuous buying and selling). However, investing experts rightly divide “speculators” from “investors.” Speculators are the ones who are always speculating which stock will go up. They buy stocks while thinking about when to sell. So, they are always on a hunt for the “hottest stock.” But the truth of the matter is this: Most people…

Growing Point (2) Testimony — Stanley Kim

Stanley Kim – Growing Point Testimony Hello everyone my name is Stanley, and I am here to share my testimony after completing Growing Point! Before I started Growing Point, I found myself struggling to maintain consistent personal time with God; whether that was reading the bible or praying, I was using school and university preparation as an excuse for me to escape. Gradually, daily devotions felt like a routine, something that I had to get done for the day, and…

217. Looking Back

House Church conference for pastors ended on Thursday. About 130 pastors gathered online to learn more about house church through presentations, bible studies and sharing. I was asked to share a presentation about how we’ve established house church ministry in our English Speaking Congregation (ESC) at Mokmin. It was well-received, and many pastors have shared that our growth story has encouraged and inspired them. My one main prayer request was that the presentation would be “helpful” to pastors and I…

216. Happiness Is A Choice

Some people believe that expressing anger can alleviate anger. But research tells us the opposite: When you complain, you amplify complaint. When you express anger, you amplify anger. In other words, we amplify what we express. Expressing our honest emotions is healthy. But expressing it as if you are the victim only spirals you deeper into the feeling you wish to escape. In 1960, there was a popular therapy called “Screaming Therapy.” What it is that you express your anger…

215. Death Is Not Natural

Many modern people often say, “Death is natural, so don’t worry too much about it!” But not many are aware how much it contradicts our deep sense of reality and how we are made. Peter Kreeft, a Christian philosopher, told a story about a couple who were his friends. They had a seven-year-old son whose three-year-old cousin had just died. Out of a desire to comfort their child who was grieving the loss, they explained that he doesn’t need to…
